In the internal domain, this Wednesday, parliamentarians discussed and approved the National Assembly’s Budget for the 2023 financial year.

In relation to the matter, without mentioning the value, the secretary general of the National Assembly, Agostinho Pedro de Nery, said that, as required by the regulation, the budget of the National Assembly is approved after the General State Budget. “We had the privilege of bringing here, for consideration, the next budget, unanimously approved”.

The proposal reflects a set of expenses and revenues that will have to respond to the various needs that the House of Laws presents on a daily basis.

Some innovations, including expenses related to Radio and TV Parliament, had to be introduced in order to see these projects realised.

He also pointed out that another expense that, due to budgetary rules, was not able to be inserted, is related to the revenue for the Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIP) meeting, which foresees the participation of around 1,800 people.

However, bearing in mind the size of the event and given the urgency of resources, it was decided, at Plenary level, to resort to budget credits.

He also explained that this budget also looks at the need to pay better attention to the local offices of the National Assembly, since there are some that currently do not meet the conditions for deputies to carry out their activity.
