Upon his arrival at the Intercontinental Hotel, the President of the Republic went through a photographic exhibition in memory of Agostinho Neto.

Cultural moments that included a perfiormance by the musician Dom Caetano, the poetess Amélia da Lomba, and the Methodist Church choir, also marked the beginning of the ceremony.
