Angola and Côte d´Ivoire defend ambitious and fruitful cooperation

Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Côte d’Ivoire highlighted this Thursday, in Luanda, their interest in establishing “ambitious and fruitful” cooperation in the fields of defense and security, agriculture, fisheries, transport, telecommunications, health, oil and the environment.

According to the joint communiqué of the 1st Session of the Grand Mixed Cooperation Commission, the parties are interested in identifying new areas and developing projects of common interest.

They expressed their desire to contribute to the development of the African continent, to the preservation of peace and stability, including in the Great Lakes Region.

The delegations, led by the heads of diplomacy of the two countries, namely Téte António (Angola and Léon Kacou Adom (Côte d’Ivoire) praised the bonds of friendship and solidarity existing between both countries.

They praised the high esteem and respect that characterize the relations between the Heads of State of Angola and Côte d’Ivoire, respectively, João Lourenço and Alassane Outtara.

They expressed satisfaction with the progress made in negotiations in various areas of cooperation, since the signing of the General Cooperation Agreement between the two countries on June 19, 1985, in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

They welcomed the predominant role of President João Lourenço, as Champion for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa designated by the African Union, as well as praising Côte d’Ivoire’s vision for an emerging, stable and prosperous Africa, saluting the leadership of President Alassane Ouattara.

At the meeting, the two ministers renewed their unwavering commitment to the principles of international law, legality and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States.

They welcomed the efforts of the African continent and partners in combating terrorism, communal conflicts and extremism, as well as the willingness to support each other’s respective candidacies in the international system.

Angola and Côte d’Ivoire signed the General Agreement on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation in 1985, in the Ivorian city of Yamoussoukro.
