Africa-Press – Angola. The visit of the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to Angola, who, on Tuesday night (6), arrived in Luanda, should focus on boosting relations between the two countries and strengthening cooperation bilateral.
According to information, during the visit the two statesmen should exchange views on political and socio-economic developments in their respective countries, as well as on matters of a regional and continental nature of common interest.
Within the framework of the partnership between both countries, Angola considers it essential to strengthen, expand and consolidate bilateral cooperation in the fields of Political Diplomacy, Defence, Security, Public Order, Terrorism, Sports, Economy, Health, Education, Oil and Gas.
Press learned that it is also in Angola’s interest to hold, in Luanda, the First Meeting of the Bilateral Commission between the two countries, on a date to be agreed.
As for the legal instruments, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Matters of Security and Public Order and the agreement in the field of transport are in view.
It is also planned to sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of groundwater management and development.
Angola-Egypt Cooperation
Political-diplomatic cooperation relations between both countries were formalized on March 26, 1987, through the signing, in Luanda, of the General Agreement on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
According to information obtained by press, there is great interest from Angola and Egypt in increasing cooperation in areas such as Economy, Trade and Industry, Education, Higher Education and Technical-Professional Training, Energy and Water, Banking and Finance, Agriculture and Fisheries .
The two countries are also engaged in the preparation of the first session of the Bilateral Commission, which will assess cooperation and establish the process for implementing the legal instruments in force.
The Bilateral Commission meeting will make it possible to identify new areas of cooperation, taking into account the potential of Angola and Egypt.
Egyptian companies were among the first to provide “important support” to the Angolan Executive Program to combat Covid-19, having provided various biosafety equipment, hospital consumables and a value of two hundred (200) million kwanzas.
Egypt is located in the northern region of the African continent, bordering Sudan to the South, Libya to the West, the Mediterranean Sea to the North and the Red Sea to the East.
The Suez Canal, built in 1869, connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Red Sea through a waterway at sea level with a population of 100.9 million inhabitants and a territorial extension of 1,001,450 square kilometers.

Abdel Fattah Saeed El-Sisi has been the current President of Egypt since 2014. He has been head of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense since August 2012.
Born on November 19, 1954, in Al-Jamaliyah, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has already served as President of the African Union (2019–2020).
