Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Latvia analyzed, Friday (03), at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, mainly in the identification and evaluation, with the Angolan side, of priority areas of action, with emphasis on Agriculture, Health, Digital Governance, Education (granting grants to students, focusing on the field of ICT) and the possibility of opening honorary consulates in both countries.
For the talks, director Júlio Maiato (Europe Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) received, in Luanda, the Ambassador General for Global and Multilateral Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, Pavluta Deslandes.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that, in the multilateral context, the Angolan Government’s support for Latvia’s candidacy for non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, whose election will take place in 2025, was under analysis.
The Republic of Latvia is a country located in Northeastern Europe and borders Estonia to the north, Lithuania to the south, the Baltic Sea to the west and the Gulf of Riga region to the northwest, which is divided with the Russian Federation and with Belarus to the Southeast. It has a developed economy, being the second largest in the Baltic region.
