Africa-Press – Angola. The Tundava Stadium in the city of Lubango, Huila province, will be able to host, on September 12th, the challenge of the last round (group E), between the National Football Teams of Angola and Madagascar, for access to the final phase of CAN’2024, in Cote d’Ivoire.
The information was provided today, in Luanda, by the chairman of the Technical Council of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), JoseĢ Neves.
According to the answerable, the proposal has already been presented to the African Football Confederation (CAF), for its approval.
He indicated that the option of choosing the venue for the game is due to the banning of the 11 de Novembro Stadium, in Luanda, for recovery works, with a view to holding the African Super League, to be played in September.
Petro de Luanda (national champion) will represent Angola in this competition, which will have the participation of the eight best teams on the African continent.
He referred that CAF allows a game to be played in Tundavala, in response to the report of the last inspection carried out on 1 June of the current year, according to the dispatch received last Friday.
“The final confirmation of the location of the game will depend on the next inspection to be carried out at the Tundavala stadium by CAF, in August,” he said.
He informed, for his part, that in case of “lead” from the venue, the National Team will be able to play in a neighboring country, like South Africa or Gabon.
He assured that everything is being done to make the improvements recommended by CAF in June, so that the Palancas Negras closes the campaign here in the country.
Angola ranks second in the group with eight points, one less than Ghana at the top.
The Central African Republic (CAR) is in third position with seven points, while Madagascar occupies the fourth and last position with two.
Angola, remember, won RCA twice, in Luanda and Doula, in Cameroon by the same result (2-1), drew with Madagascar (1-1), in Bangui.
Palancas Negras lost to Ghana (0-1) in Kumassi and drew (1-1) in Luanda.
Angola is seeking its ninth participation, after the editions of 1996 (South Africa), 1998 (Burkina-Faso), 2006 (Egypt), 2008 (Ghana), 2010 (Angola), 2012 (Gabon and Equatorial Guinea), 2013 (Africa South Africa) and 2019 (Egypt).
