Africa-Press – Angola. The elaboration of the guide for granting certificates and medals of honor for the countries of the Community for the Development of Southern Africa (SADC) was concluded last Wednesday night, in the city of Ondjiva (Cunene), by Angola and Namibia.

The document concluded at the working meeting between the General Inspectorate of National Defense bodies of these two States had its embryo at the meeting held in November 2022, in the city of Windhoek, Namibia.

At the closing act of the meeting, the Inspector General of National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, General Gouveia João Sá Miranda, said that the two countries congratulate themselves for having worked diligently to prepare and conclude the document.

He explained that this is an important document and a reference to the vast historical legacy of the region, which will be accepted and approved at the 17th Annual General Meeting of the SADC Defense Inspection Working Group.

He highlighted the fact that the general inspections of the National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Motherland of Angola and Namibia were always together at the forefront of the elaboration of all the governing documents of this working group.

“This is the culmination of the work, on behalf of the Ministry of National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland and the General Inspection of National Defense thanked everyone who deigned to support for the achievement of the objective”, he said.

Gouveia João Sá Miranda underlined that more meetings of the kind between the two republics will arise for the aggrandizement and consolidation of their historic brotherhoods.

The Inspector General of the Namibian Defense Forces, Brigadier General Ainima Blasius, said that the Defense Inspections are entities responsible for ensuring control and inspection services, aimed at adding value and improving the capabilities of institutions.

“I am pleased to have participated in the important meeting to prepare the guide for granting certificates of honor for Member Countries of the Community for the Development of Southern Africa, which provides another milestone in history”, he said.

He recalled that the preparation of the guide results from a resolution of the 14th Annual General Meeting of SADC, which took place in South Africa, in which the two countries were tasked with researching and presenting a proposal on the document.

“It is imperative to recognize and appreciate the members who have selflessly contributed to this noble journey. Thus, congratulations for this pleasant initiative, as it will motivate its members who stand out the most, so that they feel honored and with their duty fulfilled”, he stressed.

Ainima Blasius recognized and thanked the two Defense Inspections for their continued dedication and commitment since the beginning of this task, thus contributing to security, peace and economic stability in the region.

The closure was witnessed by the Deputy Governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector, Apolo Ndinoulenga.

Member countries of SADC are: South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Seychelles, Eswatini, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
