Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and the Sultanate of Oman expressed the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation in several areas of common interest, consolidating a relationship marked by mutual respect, regular political dialogue and convergence of views on strategic matters.
This desire was expressed during a Virtual Inter-sectoral Meeting, co-chaired by the Director of Africa, Middle East and Regional Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jorge Cardoso, and the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman accredited to South Africa, with non-resident status in Angola, Ali Said Al Kathiri.
Cooperation between the two countries is already underway and has seen significant progress, particularly in the mining, transport, trade and industry sectors, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received.
In this new cycle of cooperation, Angola and Oman intend to expand existing partnerships, exploring new areas such as infrastructure, tourism, health, education, and techs, while also promoting the involvement of the private sector as an engine of economic growth.
The strengthening of bilateral cooperation reflects the shared desire to elevate relations to a more comprehensive and dynamic level, based on mutual benefits and the promotion of regional and international peace, stability, and prosperity.
The relations between Angola and Oman are based on building a solid and multifaceted partnership, with a strong emphasis on the economic and investment dimension, benefiting from their complementarities and development ambitions.
The visit of the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, to the Sultanate of Oman in Dec 2024, marked the confidence in a relationship that, even in its genesis, created “solid legs” to move forward.
President João Lourenço accepted an invitation from Haitian Sultan Bim Tarik Al Said, which resulted in the signing of four agreements, joining the three signed in Luanda in May 2024, when the partnership was established.
