Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and the United States will hold on September 25 the 5th Annual Conference on Intellectual Property Rights in Luanda, with the aim of finding effective mechanisms to protect authors’ rights.
According to a press release sent on Wednesday, the event will feature international speakers, Angolan judges and representatives from the Angolan Ministries of Industry and Commerce, as well as the Ministry of Culture.
The conference, which will take place under the motto “Creative Economy: Technology, Innovation, and Intellectual Property”, will address topics such as international intellectual property structures and agreements, monetising music, and the digital economy, as well as the impact of artificial intelligence on intellectual property.
The U.S. Embassy and Angolan government ministerial departments hold annual lectures and workshops on intellectual property rights.
Intellectual property rights (IPRs) are legal rights that protect the results of intellectual activity in the fields of science, literature, and art.
These rights grant creators the exclusive right to use, reproduce, and authorise the use of their work, thereby ensuring economic benefits and stimulating innovation. The most common types of IPR include patents for inventions, copyrights for creative works, and trademarks to identify products and services.
