Africa-Press – Angola. An Angolan delegation, led by the minister of Public Administration, Labour and Social Security, Teresa Rodrigues Dias, has been attending since Monday (09) the 113th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC), which is taking place in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to a note sent, the event will bring together representatives from 187 member states at the United Nations Palace until Thursday (12), promoted by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The participants are addressing important issues in the labour world, such as possible new international standards on the protection of workers against biological risks in the workplace.
Issues linked to decent work and innovative ways to promote informal to formal economic transitions are also being analyzed.
Upon her arrival at the event, Teresa Rodrigues Dias met with the permanent representative of Angola to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Ana Maria de Oliveira, with whom she discussed strengthening institutional cooperation.
The minister speaks on Wednesday (11) at the high-level plenary session on the challenges arising from technological transformations, changes in labour relations and the importance of strengthening social protection.
The Angolan delegation’s agenda also includes parallel meetings with the ILO’s Director-General , Gilbert Houngbo, and with their counterparts from Cuba and Brazil, to deepen and expand ongoing cooperation, as well as create opportunities in the area of social protection policies.
The ILO, the only tripartite UN agency, brings together governments, employers and workers from 187 member states every year to define labour standards, develop policies and draw up programs that promote decent work for all.
