Angola Calls for the Preservation of Species in the Atlantic

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Portugal, Maria de Jesus Ferreira, defended, on Thursday, in Praia, the need not to neglect security issues for the preservation of peace, the environment and marine species in the Atlantic, with a view to preserving them and guaranteeing the well-being of future generations in the Atlantic. The diplomat was speaking, representing the Angolan State, at the 5th Ministerial Meeting of the Atlantic African States Process, held in the Cape Verdean capital.

“The Atlantic African States Process, as a mechanism, will serve as an important platform for cooperation in a wide range of areas between our countries, constituting an unquestionable reality, the impact of which will result in the strengthening of regional and multilateral cooperation”, she stressed. Maria de Jesus Ferreira acknowledged that the meeting is, above all, an opportunity to analyse and debate in greater depth and scope the results obtained over the three years of its existence. Her presence, she said, was intended to reaffirm Angola’s commitment to the objectives that underpinned the creation of this cooperation mechanism. “The Republic of Angola is committed to its Programme and Action Plan and has been an active voice in promoting regional cooperation in the various areas to which this Mechanism is limited”, she stated.
