Africa-Press – Angola. Angola is studying with Namibia the possibility of building, in Namibian territory, a logistics base similar to that of Sonils, in a partnership between Sonangol and Namcor, the national oil company of Namibia. The information was released yesterday, in Luanda, by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, during the visit of the President of Namibia, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, to the facilities of the Angolan company specialized in management and provision of cargo handling services related to the oil and gas industry, supervised by Sonangol.Speaking to the press after the visit by the President of Namibia, the minister stated that cooperation between Angola and Namibia in the oil sector is making concrete progress, especially after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding two years ago, which paved the way for strategic partnerships in the “upstream, midstream and downstream” of the oil industry.
“The President was very impressed with what she saw and I believe that this visit will give new impetus to the implementation of what we want”, said the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, adding that talks between the two state oil companies are already underway, with mutual visits having taken place in recent months.
The minister also highlighted cooperation in the area of training, revealing that Namibian technicians have already been trained in Angola and that there is an intention to expand this area, as part of regional integration in the Energy Resources sector.During the visit to Sonils facilities, the President of Namibia observed how the company operates, got to know its infrastructure and processes up close, as well as its relevance to the Oil Industry.
