Africa-Press – Angola. After a double friendly match in South Africa, Angola heads to Nairobi, Kenya, this Thursday, the venue for Group A of the African Football Championship (CHAN 2025), which will be played from August 2nd to 30th.

Angola is in Group A alongside Kenya, Morocco, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Zambia.

The event, reserved for players developing in their respective countries, will also be played in Tanzania and Uganda.

The first friendly match, against Orlando Pirates, ended in a 2-2 draw.

In the other match, the National Team drew 1-1 with South Africa, with Gilberto “Gibelé” scoring in the 28th minute, while Debisso Kutanela equalized for the home team in the 63rd minute.

According to an unofficial source, Petro de Luanda central midfielder Pedro Miguel “Megue” has returned to the country and is expected to head to Qatar, where he could represent a local team.

To replace his departure, coach Pedro Gonçalves called up left-back Anderson Cruz, also from Petro de Luanda, who returns to the group of 23 players expected to compete in the CHAN final stage, after being replaced by Gogoró due to a minor injury sustained at the time.

The Palancas Negras are in Group A. They play Morocco in their opening match on August 3, host Kenya (7), Zambia (10), and DRC (14), with the latter to conclude the group stage.

Senegal are the defending champions, with the competition being held in Algeria in 2023.
