Africa-Press – Angola. The senior women’s national handball team is in group D of the 26th World Cup, co-organized by Denmark, Norway and Sweden, from 30 November to 17 December, where it will meet France and Slovenia.
According to the draw held (Thursday), Angola, champion of Africa, was in the series of France, Slovenia and Iceland.
In addition to the French, in the previous World Cup, in Spain2021, the Angolan team also faced Slovenia, in Serie A.
The representation of the country will compete for the 17th time in the World Championship, after the debut in 1990, in South Korea.
In its last participation, in 2021, in Spain, the national “seven” ranked 25th, under the guidance of coach Filipe Cruz.
The selection was promising and after several victories during the preparation, it was unable to find itself in the final phase of the competition and added only defeats (France and Montenegro by 30-20 respectively) and a draw (Slovenia 25-25), thus finishing last in the group A with 1 point only.
Therefore, the team was relegated to compete with other teams that had low performance in the “President Cup”, which can also be considered as classifying from 25th to 32nd place, inserted in group I, where it ended up winning all its games.
Against Cameroon, the victory was 35-24, they also triumphed against Iran, by 41-8, Uzbekistan, by 52-11, and Slovakia, by 23-21, in the 25th position of the world and consequent conquest of the President Cup .
