Africa-Press – Angola. Angola participates since last Monday, until the 9th of September of this year, in the third Negotiation Session of the Comprehensive International Convention on Combating the Use of Information and Communication Technologies for Criminal Purposes, which takes place in New York, United States of America .
According to the note from the Permanent Mission to the United Nations, made public yesterday, the “ad hoc” committee will make a first reading of the provisions on international cooperation, according to the roadmap and way of working.
The commission will conduct its work on the basis of written proposals from member states, in the form of specific drafting suggestions or general comments on provisions relating to international cooperation, articulated according to the chapters contained in the structure of the convention approved at its first session, with a view to facilitating agreement and the identification of issues relevant to negotiation.
During the session, the “ad hoc” Committee also plans to analyze the provisions on technical assistance, and examine proposals from Member States.
The General Assembly, in its resolution 74/247, decided to establish an “ad hoc” intergovernmental committee of experts, of open composition, representative of all regions, to elaborate a comprehensive international convention on Combating the use of Information and Communication Technologies to Criminal Purposes, taking into account international instruments and efforts at national, regional and international levels to combat the use of ICTs for criminal purposes. With the work and results of the intergovernmental Group of Experts, it is intended to carry out a comprehensive study on cyber crimes.
The Angolan delegation to the meeting is headed by the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic and Coordinator of the Technical Group on the Cybercrime Convention, Gilberto Vunge.
