Africa-Press – Angola. Angola participates, from today until Tuesday, in Nairobi, Kenya, in the 32nd meeting of the Technical Support Committee of the Regional Mechanism for Oversight of the Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Cooperation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Region .

The aforementioned meeting, which is being co-chaired by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the Great Lakes Region, Huang Xia, and by the African Union Special Representative, Michelle Ndiaye, aims to analyze the main political and security developments in the region, including the implementation of regional dialogue processes.

The objectives of the meeting also include the implementation of regional dialogue processes, as well as the presentation of initiatives to implement the decisions of the 10th high-level meeting of the Regional Oversight Mechanism.

The director for Africa, Middle East and Regional Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Miguel Bembe, who heads the Angolan delegation, presented the main actions carried out, so far, by the Angolan mediation in the dispute between the DRC and Rwanda.

In his speech, the Angolan diplomat also highlighted the visit, on the 11th and 12th of this month, of President João Lourenço to that two countries, where he held working meetings with his counterparts Paul Kagame and Félix Tshisekedi, with the aim of meeting solutions to the political security crisis prevailing at the moment on the common border, including the resurgence of tension between the two countries.

The 11th Summit will take place on 23 February 2023 in Bujumbura, Republic of Burundi, which will coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Framework Agreement.
