Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, concluded his five-day visit to the United States of America on Saturday, which placed Angola at the center of attention for important American business groups and financial institutions.
In Washington, the minister held meetings with representatives of the US Administration, notably the meeting at the State Department with the Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Jacob Helberg, with whom he discussed the need to deepen economic and financial relations and US investment in the real sector of the Angolan economy, with a special focus on food security and energy and road infrastructure.
According to an institutional note received, the meeting also allowed for direct contact with the Trump administration in the economic field.
The Minister of State’s agenda included a meeting at the United States Chamber of Commerce International, with more than 20 private companies interested in investing in Angola.
José de Lima Massano also chaired the Roundtable at the Atlantic Council on the Lobito Corridor, an event that brought together more than 100 US figures, including businesspeople and executives from American private banks, who expressed interest in investing in Angola.
At this event, the document indicates, the Minister of State spoke about the economic importance of Angola and its potential, the need for investment in energy and road infrastructure, and the immense universe of opportunities along the Lobito Corridor, requiring strong private investment.
The Atlantic Council is a leading international think tank, based in Washington, with more than 60 years of experience dedicated to promoting strategic dialogue between governments, the private sector, and policymakers.
The Angolan official also witnessed the signing of the financing agreement between the Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the Lobito Atlantic Railway, highlighting in his speech the strategic relevance of this pact for boosting the Lobito Corridor, a key axis for the logistical integration of the region.
At the end of the visit, the Minister of State for Economic Coordination held meetings with American private entrepreneurs.
The meetings allowed Angola to reiterate its commitment to economic reforms, macroeconomic stability and improving the business environment.
