Africa-Press – Angola. The minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, affirmed that Angola seeks for a modern, responsible and transformative mining, which leaves value where it takes value.
Diamantino de Azevedo, who was speaking at the opening of the Forum on Investment in the Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas Sector in the Province of Cuanza-Norte, in Ndalatando City, said his department wants to see confident investors, companies growing, young people finding jobs and communities improving their lives.
“We want to see sustainable businesses that generate profits, yes, but that also leave a positive legacy where they operate,” Diamantino de Azevedo argued.
He continued saying that Angola is open to the world. And the province of Cuanza-Norte is ready to receive serious investment, generate growth and contribute to a stronger and more diversified national economy.
He reported that the National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels is carrying out important studies in the sedimentary basins in the countryside.
The minister indicated that the Kassanje Basin, where Cuanza-Norte is located, may hide valuable opportunities and drew the forum participants’ attention to this potential.
He also pointed out that Cuanza-Norte is a province that stands out in several economic sectors, but has much more to offer, because it also has significant mineral potential, already confirmed in some cases by several studies and projects underway, ranging from gold to manganese ores, ornamental rocks, quartz, beryllium and ferrous metals.
According to the government official, Cuanza-Norte is the stage for change, where investment in the mining sector is not only possible, it is necessary and urgent.
He stressed that the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas has promoted forums of this kind throughout the country to publicize concrete opportunities and attract national and international investors.
Within the scope of the 2023-2027 National Development Plan, he reported that several strategic actions are underway in the country, such as improving geological knowledge of the territory, increasing diamond and gold production, expanding the country’s cutting capacity, developing copper, non-ferrous metals and ornamental rock projects and investing in agro-minerals with a direct impact on agriculture.
Diamatino Azevedo announced that the new Gold Refinery, under construction in the province of Luanda, will soon create new opportunities for the valorization of national gold.
For the minister, the forum is more than an institutional meeting, it is a window of opportunities, a clear demonstration that Angola is open to investment, ready to grow with serious partners and willing to transform its potential into real progress.
The forum, which brings together investors from the mining and gas sector, professionals from the sector and officials from the Provincial Govt of Cuanza-Norte, as well as local entrepreneurs, is being held under the motto – Investment in the Mining and Oil Sector as a Lever for Economic Diversification.
