Therefore, he referred that Angola recognizes the importance of the work carried out by the committee for the development of WIPO (CDIP).

“I think that this committee should play a preponderant role in the implementation of the action plan for development”, he explained.

In her speech, during the general debate, Ana Paula Miguel underlined that issues such as technical assistance, capacity building and technology transfer must occupy a primordial place on the Organization’s agenda, not only in Angola’s interest, but for all developing countries, in particular the least developed (LDC).

WIPO supports Angola

The director general of IAPI thanked the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), for the fact that this Organization included Angola in the support package for the graduation process of a middle-income country (MRP) with actions aimed at better preparing it for this new condition of development.

On the other hand, the head of the Angolan delegation to the WIPO event, thanked the Organization for the support provided in holding the seminar, last March, in Luanda, on the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), as well as on the seminar for judicial magistrates from CPLP countries, in January, as well as the training program provided by the WIPO academy for Member States, which allow IAPI technicians to improve their skills.

Country implements the IPAS system

According to Ana Paula Miguel, in 2022 Angola began work on the implementation of the Industrial Property Administration System (IPAS), within the scope of the technical assistance program that WIPO has provided to Member States.
