Africa-Press – Angola. The country’s stadiums and pavilions will host several national and international sporting activities for a year, aiming at the celebrations of the country’s 50 years of independence.The guarantee was given yesterday by the Secretary of State for Sport, Paulo Madeira, at the Sports Gallery, in Luanda.
Speaking to the press, after the meeting to coordinate sporting activities held with the presidents of the Angolan Olympic Committee (COA), the Angolan Paralympic Committee (CPA) and the Angolan federations, the leader announced that the events will be held from November this year, until the aforementioned month, in 2025.
“It was a working meeting in which the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Minjud) aimed to convey what the activities of the Independence Day festivities will be. The events will be held once a year and will be national and international competitions,” explained Madeira.
The sports manager explained that the purpose of the meeting was to demand greater efforts from federation leaders so that the competitions take place without any problems.
“The objective is to ask for greater commitment from the presidents of the sports bodies so that the events are a success, so that the country’s image is safeguarded in sporting terms”, he said.
Without revealing the number of events, Madeira said that the solemn ceremony also aimed to present the sporting events, including the African championships in basketball, handball, judo, fencing and sailing, which will be held next year.
Paulo Madeira, without announcing the dates, informed that Minjud will meet again with the members of the Angolan federations as the competition period approaches.
