Africa-Press – Angola. Angola will train diplomats from Equatorial Guinea in the field of Portuguese, within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Staff Training, signed Wednesday (04), between the Venâncio de Moura Academy and the Guinean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The information was provided by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, at the end of the second session of the Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation between the two countries, which culminated in the signing of four legal instruments.

The documents signed by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and the counterpart of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Simeón Oyono Esono Angue, include the Verbal Process of the Second Joint Cooperation Commission, an Internal Regulation of the Commission, the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Training of Staff between Academia Venâncio de Moura and diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Equatorial Guinea and, finally, the Memorandum of Understanding on Mutual Political and Diplomatic Consultations.

To the press, the minister also said that Equatorial Guinea had chosen Angola as the main partner to progressively promote its insertion into the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP).

For Téte António, the second meeting of the Joint Commission marks a new era in relations between the two countries, 15 years after the first one. The meeting, he added, also served to define actions to strengthen cooperation between the parties in different areas such as Political-Diplomatic, Defence, Security and Public Order, Economy, Finance and Investment.

In his opening speech, the Angolan minister reminded his counterpart and members of the delegation that the Executive has favored a model of cooperation that promotes economic diplomacy, sustainable development and the well-being of all Angolans.

From a commercial point of view, he said, Angola and Equatorial Guinea offer enormous potential yet to be explored, having considered it opportune for the parties to assess and consolidate the state of cooperation in order to envisage new initiatives with reciprocal advantages.

Angola and Equatorial Guinea agreed to hold regular consultations from a bilateral and multilateral point of view. “That is, how to position ourselves in the world, as African countries, and analyze the consequences of Covid-19, as well as the war that is currently ravaging Europe”, he underlined.

The head of diplomacy recalled that the holding of this second meeting of the Joint Commission reflects the political will of the two Heads of State, João Lourenço, and Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, to raise bilateral cooperation relations to an excellent level.
