Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos dos Santos, invited his Egyptian counterpart, Assem El Gazzar, to visit Angola, to strengthen the bilateral relationship, within the framework of existing cooperation between the two sectors.

In a message, delivered this Tuesday, by the Angolan ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Nelson Cosme, the Angolan official clarifies that the visit of the Minister of Housing, Public Services and Urban Communities of Egypt can be made on a date that best suits with your schedule.

According to a press release, the delivery of the letter of invitation took place during a meeting between the ambassador and the Egyptian minister, who promptly accepted the invitation.

Assem El Gazzar’s trip to Angola is also part of the fulfillment of the conclusions produced by the visit of the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which took place on the 7th and 8th of June last, in Luanda.

According to the document, the presence of the Egyptian minister in Angola will also serve to update the instruments that regulate the partnership, at a time when Egypt is already working on concluding the existing specialized memorandum, whose content establishes the execution of tasks and actions bilateral in nature.

In the meeting with the Angolan diplomat, the Egyptian minister expressed his availability to support Angola in the execution and development of structural projects defined as priorities by the Angolan Executive.

For this purpose, he added that his mission to Angola will be extended, including businessmen in the field of civil construction, housing and infrastructure, as well as technicians and specialists, who will be able to transmit experiences on the construction of roads, cities and other infrastructures. .

The aforementioned invitation comes about two months ago after Minister Carlos dos Santos visited Egypt, last May, for a period of three days.

The official’s visit focused essentially on new political and administrative centres, construction of motorways and new urban centres, culminating in the holding of a specialized Egypt – Angola investment forum, which mobilized Egyptian businessmen to invest in the national economy.

The political-diplomatic cooperation relations between Angola and Egypt were formalized on March 26, 1987, through the signing, in Luanda, of the General Agreement on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

Currently, the two countries are very interested in increasing cooperation in the fields of Economy, Trade, Industry, Education, Higher Education and Technical-Vocational Training, Energy and Water, Banking and Finance, Agriculture and Fisheries, in addition to Construction.
