Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan government and the World Bank will launch a new regional coordination mechanism in Luanda. The mechanism is designed to accelerate the development of the Lobito Corridor, which links the interior of the African continent to global markets.
A press release sent on Tuesday states that the launch will take place during the inaugural coordination meeting on the Lobito Corridor. This meeting will bring together high-level government officials from Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia, as well as top leaders from multilateral and bilateral organizations, financial institutions, and international development partners.
According to the statement, the participation of these entities underscores the consensus and collective commitment to the corridor’s strategic importance and that the meeting aims to align strategic priorities and strengthen coordination between the three African countries and their technical and financial partners.
The agenda will focus on accelerating the implementation of projects that will modernize vital areas such as rail transport, integrated logistics, trade facilitation, and infrastructure.
It will also address sustainable energy, developing agricultural and mineral value chains, and promoting economic and social development along the corridor.
