Africa-Press – Angola. The World Bank’s Director-General of Operations, Anna Bjerde, begins a three-day working visit to Angola on Wednesday (4), with a view to participating in the inaugural High-Level Coordination Meeting of the Lobito Corridor.
The meeting, which will bring together the Ministers of Finance, Transport and Trade of Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia, will focus on policy harmonization, investment coordination and the mobilization of public and private partners to accelerate economic growth, job creation and cross-border trade.
Additional discussions will cover key regional priorities, including expanding access to energy through the Mission300 initiative, strengthening agricultural and agribusiness value chains with AgriConnect and increasing digital access and connectivity.
According to a statement from the World Bank office sent, the meeting marks an important step towards strengthening regional cooperation around the Lobito Corridor, a strategic trade and transport route that connects Southern Africa to global markets.

It should be remembered that in January this year, the World Bank’s portfolio in Angola totaled approximately US$4.9 billion, including US$4.78 billion distributed across 18 national projects and US$150 million committed to a regional operation.
