Speaking at the ceremony for handing over the National Flag to the delegation of Angola to the event, at the Sports Gallery, the secretary of State for the sector, Teresa Ulundo, called for greater engagement by members of the different sports, in the sense of honoring the homeland.
“We are here to offer words of encouragement and encouragement to the athletes, coaches, managers and other members of our selections. We believe that with your bravery you will be able to achieve the purposes that dignify the country. May Angolan sport be victorious and may the country be honored”, he said.
Identical position was expressed by the vice-president of the Angolan Olympic Committee (COA), Pedro Godinho, who, in addition to foreseeing a positive performance of the athletes in the competition, requested the preservation of the spirit of olympism, on behalf of the country.
“It is already a habit that comes from the Olympic spirit, carrying out this act of handing over our flag. Therefore, we are on the right path, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, on behalf of the Government, carry out this important ceremony of encouragement”, he stressed.
He added that, despite not being able to talk about results, now the Angolan delegation already has more knowledge of the games, which allow for a dignified presence, since it is framed as head of mission, former and experienced judoka Antónia de Fátima “Faia”.
In turn, Faia, who introduced the entourage, which has as its flag bearer, the rowing athlete, José Kissamba, promised the dedication of the collective in the struggle to achieve the country’s objectives in these Beach Games, which will not be easy.
On the Tunisian beaches of Hammet, Angola will participate in five modalities, namely athletics, swimming (open water), canoeing, rowing and amateur wrestling, with a total of 20 members, including athletes and officials.
In the previous edition, held in 2019, in Praia, Cape Verde, the national representation competed in just three disciplines (swimming, volleyball and athletics), in a universe of 11 sports.
