Africa-Press – Angola. Angola Head of State, João Lourenço, stated on Tuesday urged Europe to make the most of its relations with Africa, given its privileged position and its well-known knowledge of the continent.
In an interview with CNN Portugal, the statesman stated that Europe is not taking advantage of this opportunity, emphasizing that it could have made much more investment, benefiting Africans and Europeans.
According to João Lourenço, Europe can and should have good relations with Africa, emphasizing that the “cradle continent” needs to reach new levels of development.
To this end, Lourenço said, Europe could better help implement this massive investment in the construction of infrastructure, such as roads, ports, dams, and railways, as well as in electricity production and distribution lines.
“For this, we could rely much more on Europe, but this hasn’t happened,” lamented João Lourenço, emphasizing that Europe knows Africa well, and if, over time, it hasn’t made the most of this privileged relationship, it has only lost out.
According to the statesman, relations between Africa and Europe are good, adding that Europeans should maintain this partnership, regardless of their current or prospective relations with the United States of America.
