Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan Vice President Hope of Costa on Thursday received ecclesiastical entities with whom she approached the dialogue for peace on the African continent.
Speaking to the press at the end of the hearing, the Secretary of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA), Vladimir Agostinho, stressed that during the found they approached him with the Vice President of the Republic issues linked to the permanent dialogue to reach the continent’s level and the reinforcement of the Church-Estado partnership.
‘When we look at Angola’s history, we see that in her troubled period there are several international organizations came to help mediate peace in the country, but there was no success. It was precisely when the Angolans decided to stop and dialogue that the peace was able to achieve, ‘he argued.
He stressed that ‘the reinforcement of permanent dialogue with populations, civil society organizations and political parties will help strengthen peace, unity, not only in Angola, but at the entire African continent.’
He informed that the Vice President of the Republic was quite open, at a time when Angola has greater responsibility at the continent, ‘not only the head of state, but all Angolans have the responsibility to help conflict mediation in Africa, looking at RDC and other places so that they can, in a short time, see these countries in peace.’
He said that, during the meeting, the great objectives and challenges of the churches were reviewed, with themes related to human dignity, social justice, inversion of values, which are part of what the CICA carries as great responsibility in the country.
Regarding the situation of the economic crisis, he said that the Angola Christian Churches Council has implemented a program of helping needy widowed women who are difficult.
‘It’s a program that the Church in Africa has been carrying out, in order to help widowed women, he said.
The Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, said that the meeting with ecclesiastical entities served to strengthen the effective cooperation between the churches and the state.
‘Churches are currently strengthening cooperation ties with the various states,”he said.
He said that the President of the Republic and leader of the African Union has developed a whole effort linked to peace, but also to reparation, which is the motto of the organization.
According to the minister, the principles of peace, the rule of democratic law, social justice and human rights are inalienable principles of which one cannot lose sight of.
On the other hand, the director of the programs at the Church Conference of All Africa, Lesmore Ezequiel, said that during the meeting they addressed Angola’s need to continue to work in collaboration with churches to improve the lives of populations.
He clarified that the Conference of Churches throughout Africa (Cita) that brings together more than 200 million Christians throughout the African continent has developed several activities in the health and education sector.
