Africa-Press – Angola. The United Kingdom ambassador to Angola, Bharat Joshi, said on Thursday in Saurimo that his country is financing the construction of the Luena (Moxico)/Saurimo (Lunda-Sul) railway branch, on a 260-kilometre route.

Speaking at the end of the audience granted by the provincial governor of Lunda-Sul, Daniel Neto, the diplomat stressed that the British government’s support is aimed at promoting the development of the region.

He informed that the United Kingdom is supporting several projects in Angola, such as the construction of various infrastructures, electricity and roads, aiming at the progress and growth of the country.

He said that in Lunda-Sul there are British companies, such as De Beers, Rio Tinto and ConsultMed, providing work in the mining area, which effectively contributes to the growth of the province.

He added that his trip to Lunda-Norte and Lunda-Sul aims to discuss and analyse business opportunities between British businessmen and those from the eastern region of Angola.

On the other hand, he expressed the desire to see more British companies working in other areas in Angola, such as agriculture and the tourism sector in Lunda-Sul, in order to create more jobs for young Angolans.

Bharat Joshi praised the quality of the Malanje/Saurimo section, which has boosted trade in the region.

During a few hours on a working visit to Lunda-Sul, the ambassador visited the offices of the companies De Beers and Rio Tinto.

The province of Lunda-Sul has 14 municipalities, with arable land for agriculture and tourist potential.
