commitment of youth
In his speech, the President of the Republic underlined the fact that April is not only the month of peace and national reconciliation, but is also dedicated to Angolan youth.
It was young people, he continued, who for many years saw their student or professional careers, temporarily or permanently interrupted, to serve the homeland in the defense of national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to the holder of the Executive Power, it is this same youth, which with the achievement of peace, has been rebuilding the country’s infrastructures, building roads, different industries, building centralities, hospitals, universities and the schools.
He said that it was the youth that had built hydroelectric dams, photovoltaic plants, ports and airports, oil refineries, projects to combat drought in southern Angola and many others that created jobs and ensured the country’s economic and social development. .
João Lourenço recalled that in the past and in the present, youth has been a determining force for the country’s development, representing a significant part of the Angolan population.
He underlined the need to take good care of young people, transmitting them the values of patriotism, ethics, civility, love of work, dedication to studies and reading, defense of the Environment and Nature, respect and protection to the elderly, children and women.
In the opinion of the President of the Republic, “it is time for each political party, party leader, church, educational institution, NGO, for each one of us, individually, to ask ourselves if we are keeping our word”.
According to João Lourenço, the interrogation also serves to assess how the teachings have been passed, what example about acts and behavior they receive from society, to forge a youth within the noblest values of our civilization and culture.
João Lourenço warned of the importance of always being associated with good causes, policies and programs that create, educate and train young people who defend and build peace, stability and social order, who preserve public and private heritage.
He said that it is essential to make the most of all the potential of young Angolans, their inner strength, energy, vigor, intelligence, innovative and enterprising spirit, to better serve our country.
“In this youth month, I congratulate all young Angolans, in Angola and in the diaspora, for their month, for everything they did and do for the good of Angola and Angolans”, he expressed.
On the occasion, the Angolan President congratulated those awarded the Orders and Medals, “for having deserved this public recognition from the Angolan homeland”.
