Africa-Press – Angola. Vice President Esperança da Costa on Tuesday (28) in Washington D.C., United States of America (USA), participated in a meeting with US Senator Martin Heinrich.
The meeting, which also included the presence of the Mozambican Head of State, Daniel Chapo, as well as the founder and CEO of the ICCF Group, John B. Gantt, aimed to strengthen political and diplomatic relations between the parties and focus on strengthening partnerships between Angola and the United States, in addition to regional cooperation between African countries. It took place within the framework of the annual gala dinner of the International Conservation Caucus Foundation (ICCF).
It also served to deepen bilateral relations between Angola and the USA in the environmental, academic, social and scientific fields, promoting institutional partnerships and consolidating environmental diplomacy, highlighting the role of Angolan women’s leadership in international forums.
Cooperation between Angola and the United States is characterized by its breadth and diversity of areas, including trade, health, defence, security, energy, agriculture, and infrastructure.
In recent years, bilateral ties have been strengthened through the signing of new agreements and memoranda of understanding, notably in the aviation and defence sectors, as well as the Lobito Corridor Project, considered strategic for the economic development of the region.
On the other hand, regarding relations between Angola and Mozambique, the two nations have intensified cooperation in the transport, tourism, culture, and agriculture sectors, with a view to promoting economic and social development. Among the recent initiatives, the project to create a direct air link between Luanda and Maputo stands out.
Still on Tuesday, Angola ́s Vice-President is expected to speak at the annual ICCF gala ceremony, an event that brings together political leaders, diplomats and leaders of international organizations committed to environmental preservation and sustainable development.
