Africa-Press – Angola. The investments made by Angola, Zambia and Namibia in telecommunications and information technologies, to connect communities, were highlighted in the first opening panel of the 3rd edition of ANGOTIC 2023 – International Forum of Information and Communication Technologies of Angola.

The event, which takes place from the 12th to the 14th of this month, at the Talatona Convention Center, under the motto “Connectivity and Technological Modernization”, brings together more than 100 national and international companies.

The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário de Oliveira, points out that the country has been investing in the development of the sector, with a strong commitment to the National Space Programme, ANGOSAT, fiber optics, as well as training of national staff.

Mário de Oliveira highlights the involvement of private sector partners, who have worked for the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

“We are going to create the conditions for the whole socio-economic, cultural and educational ecosystem to benefit all Angolans and the continent”, he said.

Speaking to the press, the official reinforced that technologies are in constant development, so the State creates the bases, with fiber optic networks, with the national space program, ANGOSAT, training of young people, as well as the strategy for cyber security .

On his turn, the Minister of Science and Technology of Zambia, Felix Mutati, made it known that the country plans to invest in digital infrastructures, in order to be a center of southern Africa.

“We are waiting for the moment, so that we can install one of the largest Data Centers in Zambia, which could happen at the end of this year. We will be creating opportunities for investment”, he emphasized.

He made it known that on 4 June the connection of all secondary schools via fiber optics will be launched.

On her turn, the Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technologies of Namibia, Emma Theofelus, highlighted that she has been making investments to be able to connect the country.

“We have already done connectivity work in Namibia. Our 2030 vision is to have 90% coverage with broadband”, she assured.

The 3rd edition of ANGOTIC 2023 – International Forum on Information and Communication Technologies of Angola, with the motto “Connectivity and Technological Modernization”, started at the Talatona Convention Center in Luanda.

ANGOTIC 2023 is a global event on information and communication technologies, held and promoted by the Government of Angola, through the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication.

It aims to promote debate around current, global and future issues of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), sharing knowledge and facilitating networking for government entities, exhibitors, specialists, presenting innovations, as well as trends in the sector.

The largest International Forum on Technologies in Angola “ANGOTIC 2023” has returned, after two years of interruption, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
