Africa-Press – Angola. The implementation of the “Metaverso” technology could represent a gain of US$40 billion in the process of African economic growth over the next 10 years, predicted Facebook specialist Fargani Tambeayuk.
Metaverse indicates a type of virtual world that tries to replicate/simulate reality through digital devices. It is a collective and shared virtual space, constituted by the sum of “virtual reality”, “augmented reality” and “Internet”.
Despite gaining popularity in 2021, via the Facebook and Meta connection, the term Metaverse first appeared in the science fiction book “Snow Crash”, published in 1992, by American author, Neal Stephenson.
In Metaverso it is possible to create an “avatar”, talk to people, play games, buy virtual items, among other possibilities. Businesses, in turn, can sell digital items and advertise.
Speaking about “Metaverse to revolutionize the future of entertainment, content and commerce”, within the framework of ANGOTIC 2023, metaverse expert at Facebook, Fargani Tambeayuk, also estimates that the platform can create three million growth opportunities in the world’s GDP and 40 thousand jobs.
He encouraged African companies, in particular Angolan ones, to invest in the metaverse, with the Government having to create policies and guidance strategies, to improve information and communication technologies, moving away from the 5G system to the 6 GHZ band, as the tool is the next step in the evolution of the internet and will improve the various sectors of life.
He pointed out immersive education as some advantages of Metaverso, which is a method in which students interact with content in different ways, using technological tools and STEAM education for this.
STEAM Education is an active and multidisciplinary teaching approach that integrates the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, Humanities and Environmental Awareness. This technology allows the interaction between disciplines as a central point, where the student actively participates in the learning to be investigated.
The 3rd edition of ANGOTIC 2023 – International Forum of Information and Communication Technologies of Angola, with the motto “Connectivity and Technological Modernization”, takes place from 12 to 14 June, at the Talatona Convention Center, in Luanda.
