Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan Insurance Regulation and Supervision Agency (ARSEG) will promote, during the current month, a series of clarification sessions on “The importance of Mediators for the Insurance and Reinsurance Mediation Sector” in the country.

According to a note from the Ministry of Finance, the program is part of the various actions of ARSEG for the year 2023, with a focus on financial literacy.

The program also aims, according to the document, to provide citizens, mainly low-income and informal sector citizens, with the role of the mediation channel and the impact that this sector may have on the subscription of insurance policies, with better premiums and coverage.

ARSEG specialists will take the program to different universities and media libraries, nationwide, to provide young people with knowledge on the subject.

Recently, ARSEG held, in Luanda, a meeting of mediators (legal and corrective persons) to encourage the promotion and innovation of the mediation market, encouraging them to present different solutions adjusted to the new situation of the insurance market.

The document reads that the actions are in line with the best international principles and practices in the sector, aiming that the profession of mediator is known and recognized by all of society.

Still within the scope of financial literacy, the note ensures that ARSEG has carried out various campaigns such as the so-called “Falar Seguro”, taking notions about insurance and pension funds from Cabinda to Cunene, through messages in national languages.

Currently, the Angolan market has 23 insurance companies, 810 insurance intermediaries (individual) and 70 insurance intermediaries (corporate).

ARSEG is the body assigned to the Ministry of Finance, which is responsible for regulating, supervising and monitoring insurance, reinsurance, pension funds and insurance and reinsurance mediation.
