In his message, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church warned of “the climate of growing anti-Semitism that is spreading throughout the world” and called for a ceasefire and urgent humanitarian aid.
As is tradition, the Pope’s funeral begins in St. Peter’s Basilica.
The body of Jorge Bergoglio, the first Latin American Pope in history, will be on display for the faithful to visit and pray for.
The funeral ends with a funeral mass in St. Peter’s Square.
