Africa-Press – Angola. The defending champion of São Silvestre de Viana from the previous year, Avelino Sanganhala, will be the main absentee from this year’s edition to be played on the 16th of this month, starting in the Special Economic Zone and arriving in the municipal administration.
The international’s failure in the 10 km race, which aims to celebrate the 58th anniversary of the elevation as Vila de Viana on December 13, 1965, is due to the fact that the athlete is residing in Portugal where he competes for Vitória de Setúbal.
Meanwhile, the race will feature several high-level distance runners, including the runner-up of São Silvestre de Luanda’ 2022, António Teko and the female champion of the end-of-year race in the country’s capital, and holder of this Viennese competition, Ernestina Paulino.
According to the president of the Municipal Athletics Association of Viana, Santana João, the objective is the starting gun, of the race that will have around 1200 participants, a figure that if it happens could surpass the 600 runners of the 2022 edition.
This is the fourth edition, after the debut in 2019. 250 athletes are already registered, including the delegations from Huambo, Cuanza Sul, Bié and Huíla.
