Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda’s senior men’s basketball team announced the signing of Nigerian center forward, Chinemelu Elonu.
According to the axis-viário club’s official page, the 39-year-old player signed a contract valid until the end of this season.
Having entered the NBA draft in 2009, with the Los Angeles Lakers, the 2.08 cm Elonu will reinforce the internal game of the “Tricolores” alongside Yanick Moreira, Cléusio Castro, Jorge Filipe and Aboubakar Gakou.
The player brings experience from Spain, China, Greece, Italy, Puerto Rico and Kuwait, where he has the ability to block and rebound.
This is Petro de Luanda’s third foreign reinforcement, after Javion Blake (base winger) Peter Jok (post).
Elonu, enters as a reinforcement for the final phase of the National Championship and Kalahari Conference, of the African Basketball League (BAL – in its acronym in English), which begins on the 27th of this year in Pretoria, South Africa.
