Africa-Press – Angola. The Katyavala Bwila University – UKB, based in Benguela, is creating the conditions for the holding of the first international conference on logistics and transport in Angola (CONFILTA), on the 11th and 12th of May of this year, an event that will take place in five panels, in a hybrid format, face-to-face and virtual, under the motto “logistics and mobility as factors for development”.
The CONFILTA organizing committee makes it known that the event will be held every two years and arises from the need to provide a space for the exchange of experiences, reflection and debate, in addition to pointing out solutions for the implementation of logistical platforms in the province of Benguela and in the region, with the objective of increasingly influencing the country’s industrial and economic growth.
The main objective of the event is to share experiences of models and approaches for the implementation of initiatives in logistics and transport management, to maximize the logistical potential of the province of Benguela, as well as to promote good practices, innovation and scientific and technological development in these fields. .
According to the academic institution, the event will have the participation of national and international experts, a number not yet determined, who will present communications in plenary sessions or thematic panels, in the form of conferences, round tables, oral communications, posters or exhibitions.
The main target audience will be academics and scientists from related areas, specialists in the field, students, government authorities, sectoral representatives, entrepreneurs and representatives of various organizations.
Regarding the expected impact, the organization of the event points out the following results: identifying new models and approaches for logistics and transport management, to increase the development of the socio-economic potential of the province of Benguela and other regions of the country; To lay the foundations to strengthen cooperation and implementation of regional and international initiatives, supported by structured approaches, and create mechanisms for operationalizing logistics and transport platforms, which benefit Angola and other countries in the region.
It is also intended to identify the assumptions for the creation of a center of excellence for transport and logistics management, which brings together academics from national and foreign higher education institutions and partners from other organizations and companies, especially those from Southern Africa.
It should be remembered that, at the end of April last year, the Executive, represented by the Ministry of Transport, signed a memorandum with the Dutch Government on technical assistance and co-financing for the implementation of a logistics center for the export of vegetables from from the province of Benguela.
