Africa-Press – Angola. The bishop of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the World (also known as the Tocoistas), Dom Afonso Nunes, on Sunday in Luanda, praised the importance of unity among churches, even in the face of doctrinal differences.
The religious leader made these comments while speaking to the press at the end of a service held as part of the 49th anniversary celebrations of the Council of Christian Churches of Angola (CICA), at which the Norwegian Reverend Henrik Erhard Hermansen was welcomed.
He said that Jesus Christ is the one true meeting point for all Christians and that Christian love must prevail in order to reinforce the African identity of the church. He also expressed his happiness at the way Angolans worship God.
Bishop Nunes also announced that on 25 February, the Tocoista Church will visit Huambo province to celebrate the 108th anniversary of the birth of Tocoism’s founder, the Prophet Simão Gonçalves Toco.
Bishop Afonso Nunes also praised the role of the CICA and its historical partnership with the Norwegian Church, emphasising that international visits provide opportunities for cooperation and training, as well as institutional strengthening.
“The date of the celebration also coincides with the Prophet Simão Gonçalves Toco’s anniversary, highlighting the event’s historical and symbolic value”, he said.
