Africa-Press – Angola. The National Bank of Angola and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) are promoting, on Tuesday, a workshop on digital and gender inclusion in micro-businesses.
The event takes place within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the BNA and the UNDP, on September 28, 2022, in Luanda, with an agreement to join efforts to facilitate general access by the population to quality formal financial services, such as deposits and savings accounts, payment services, loans and insurance.
In partnership with the Institute of Support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM) and the African Development Fund, the training action, taking place at the Money Museum, aims to promote greater use of digital media in business management.
The training initiative also aims to strengthen the skills of entrepreneurs in relation to customers and in the promotion of products and services, through various digital resources, according to the document.
According to studies carried out by the UNDP, gender inequality and poor digital capacity in the management of micro-businesses converge to the sector’s informality, which is why there is an urgent need to reinforce the sharing of good management practices for digital platforms.
The transition from the informal economy to the formal economy, according to the document, involves the formalization of economic micro-operators, focusing on priority areas, with emphasis on strengthening their digital skills in business management and women’s empowerment.
The event is expected to bring together various actors from the micro-business ecosystem in Luanda, entrepreneurship associations and innovation academies, university students and media professionals, to address the main challenges together, such as the use of digital wallets in business management and access to bank credit.
