Africa-Press – Angola. The volume III of the book entitled “The Bantu in Mafrano’s Vision – Almost Memory”, written by the Angolan ethnologist Maurício Francisco Caetano well known as Mafrano, is scheduled to be launched on August 12, 2025, at the National School of Administration and Public Policies (ENAPP), in Luanda.
According to the writer’s son, José Caetano, the 327-page collection, composed of 18 chapters, was released by Perfil Criativo publishing house.
It is divided into three parts that address themes related to the Bantu civilization, religious and social issues, as well as moments experienced by the author Maurício Francisco Caetano between 1947 and 1982.
The book was posthumously awarded the National Prize for Culture and Arts in November 2024, in the category of Research in Human and Social Sciences, in unanimous recognition of its historical richness.
It was first released in the southern Huila Province in April 2022, and weeks later in Luanda, on May 14th, while the second volume was presented in July 2023 in Luanda.
José Caetano clarified that, like the previous volumes, this edition includes a photo album of memories, highlighting images such as the gift of this work to the Vatican’s Cardinal for Culture and Education, Dom José Tolentino de Mendonça.
Mafrano was a founding member of the Angolan Writers Association (UEA). He was also national director of the Ministry of Finance after Angola’s independence in 1975.
Maurício Francisco Caetano was born on December 24, 1916, in the city of Dondo, Province of Cuanza-Norte, and died on July 25, 1982.
