Africa-Press – Angola. The General Commander of the National Police, Commissioner General Francisco Ribas da Silva, lamented on Thursday the death of a Congolese citizen and a law enforcement officer following acts of vandalism that occurred from the 28th to the 30th of this month.

According to the General Commander, the citizen was part of a group of individuals who were looting in the CAOP area and who rebelled against police officers who were trying to maintain order in the area.

He explained that police officers subsequently fired shots to disperse the crowd, resulting in the fatal accident involving the Congolese citizen.

Regarding the death of the National Police sub-inspector, the Commissioner General stated that it occurred while performing his duties, while attempting to protect one of the commercial premises, and was hit by a bullet fired by one of the individuals who attempted to break into the store. Francisco Ribas said the police are investigating to determine the facts of both incidents.

The PN commander visited the Sapu police station, which suffered an escape attempt, and learned of the 15 detainees and the recovered property.
