Africa-Press – Angola. The book “O Bispo dos Pés Descalços nas Terras do Fim do Mundo” is the third literary work by Angolan writer Pedro Branco, to be launched this month, in Luanda and Moxico.

“It is with a great honor, and in partnership with Editora Muenho & Livraria Muyombo, that we announce… the launch ceremony of my third book”, reads a statement announcing the events for the 30th of September (Luanda) and October 7th (Luena).

After releasing “Crônicas e Pensamento” and “O Presidente”, the young writer presents this new work to the literature-loving public, in honor of the former bishop of Luena, Dom Jesus Tirso Blanco, who died at the age of 64, in 2022, in Italy.

Prefaced by the president of CEAST, Dom Manuel Imbamba, the book portrays the path and opinions of the late bishop, with testimonies from people who lived closely with the Catholic prelate who led the diocese of Luena for 14 years.

“I invite everyone to dive into this journey around the life and work of the one who appeared as the bishop and advocate of the voiceless”, reinforces the statement, which considers Dom Imbamba’s involvement as “a very strong testimony” around the figure of Jesus Tirso Blanco.

“The bishop has always preached love for others, inclusion and equal opportunities for all, that we must be honest enough to share the little we have with those who need it and that we came to serve, not serve ourselves”, he concludes.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Jesus Tirso Blanco had a degree in Missiology and Social Communication and had been appointed bishop of the Diocese of Luena on November 26, 2007.
