Africa-Press – Angola. The Construction Materials Price Index (IPMC) showed a variation of 2.1 percent in March compared to February, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month.

According to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), the year-on-year variation rate of the IPMC, from March 2024, in relation to March 2023, stood at 23.4 percent.

In year-on-year changes, among the Construction Materials groups, “Cement and Binders” were those that recorded the biggest price increases, with 48.2 percent, followed by “Wood and Plywood” (22.7), “Ready-mixed concrete” (18.9), “Steel” and “Glass and Glassware” (17.4).

“Crushed stone and marble” recorded a variation of 16.9 percent, “Synthetic products” (15.9), “Sand” (13.8), “Beams, joists and laths (13.1), “Others synthetic products” (12.6), “Plastic Pipes and Accessories” (11.9), “Blocks” (11.3), “Bricks” (9.4) and “Aluminum” (8.6).

Among the materials that contributed most to the variation in the IPMC for the month of January, “Cement and Binders” (1.6) stand out, followed by “Steel”, “Aluminum”, “Ready-mixed concrete” and “Blocks” with 0. 1 percentage points each.
