Business group invests 25 million in the production of animal feed

Africa-Press – Angola. The business group “Safcomex Limitada” will invest 25 million dollars (1 dollar is equivalent to 849 Kwanzas) in the installation of a factory to produce 150 tons of soybean meal and cooking oil/day, announced this Friday, in Luanda, the organization’s managing partner, Fares Sebaiti.

The project based on the production of animal feed will be implemented in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, district of Kaxicane, province of Luanda, and is expected to employ 150 citizens, of which 90% are nationals and 10% are expatriates.

The official was speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a session to sign five investment contracts with the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX).

He expected the factory to come into operation by the end of this year.

The agreements signed between the agency and business entities are related to projects in the agri-food, processing industry and aluminum utensils, pharmaceutical, solar energy and furniture fields, with foreign and national capital.

Among the projects, the construction of an aluminum industrial park stands out, in an investment of 250 million dollars by the Chinese company “Hebei Huatong”, in a partnership between the governments of Angola and China.

The aforementioned industrial park is being designed in the province of Luanda and will transform aluminum into more than 40 products, with emphasis on, among other utensils, ingots, alloys, electrical poles, rods and sheets.

By the way, the general director of “Hebei Huantong”, Liu Guigen, guaranteed the start of works for next June, in the Barra do Dande area, in the province of Bengo, adding that the factory will, in the first phase, production capacity of 120 tons of electrolytic aluminum.

The businessman explained that the project encompasses five phases, over eight years, with the first stage expected to start in 2025, with a thousand jobs, of which 800 reserved for national citizens.

Regarding the factory project for different types of hospital serum, specifically, sodium chloride (physiological), glycophysiological, glucose, lactatolactose and dextrose serum, with an annual production of 30 thousand units of different sizes.

According to the company’s representative, Pedro Garcia, this production figure represents around 95% overall of that consumed by hospitals in the 18 provinces, thus making the country self-sufficient in this field.

The production forecast, according to the person responsible, should take place by the end of this year, in the Luanda Special Economic Zone (ZEE), in an investment of 15 million dollars, creating close to 550 jobs.

In turn, the company “Ponto Mais”, from the CASA NOVA group, has an investment project of 10 million and 300 thousand dollars, to produce furniture for offices, homes, schools and hospitals.

Its general director, Amim Herji, said that the proposed production levels will allow exports to the SADC region and generate 80 jobs.

The Baía Fish project, to be implemented in Benguela, is the result of an investment of 17.5 million dollars and will be dedicated to capturing and processing fish, expected to create 165 local jobs.

On the occasion, the president of the Board of Directors of AIPEX, Arlindo das Chagas Rangel, highlighted the attraction of private investments as a significant contribution to the Government’s challenges in terms of food security.

“The objective is to contribute to the country’s socioeconomic development, as well as promote the increase and diversification of the country’s exports of products and services”, he stressed.

In this regard, the manager guaranteed unconditional institutional support to the five business groups so that the implementation process runs smoothly.

He considered the agreements as “a reflection of the diplomacy that the President of the Republic has taken to different places around the world”.
