CAN'2023: Vieira Dias defends better midfield

Africa-Press – Angola. The midfield needs some attention, but from a technical-tactical point of view Angola has everything it takes to beat Nigeria, in the game at 6pm on Friday, referring to the CAN`2023 quarter-finals taking place in Côte d`Ivoire.

According to former National Team footballer, Vieira Dias, despite this small detail, the National Team must enter with defensive caution and maximize the attack as it did in previous games.

Speaking this Thursday, in Luanda, the former 1.o de Agosto player, said that the national team just needs to concentrate, have tactical discipline and be consistent in their actions.

He acknowledged that Nigeria is a strong opponent, but that it has not yet shown its characteristic football.

“Angola will be able to overcome the powerful Nigeria and reach the title, because the athletes have already done the difficult thing and now they just have to trust”, he stressed.

To reach this stage, the Palancas Negras (name of the Angolan national team) won group D, with seven points, as a result of a draw (1-1) against Algeria, victories over Mauritania (3-2) and Burkina Faso (2 -0).

In the round of 16, Angola eliminated Namibia, 3-0, with goals from Gelson Dala (twice) and Mabululu.

The African Cup of Nations (CAN’2023) takes place in Côte d’Ivoire from January 13th to February 11th.
