Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, invited the Nicaraguan counterpart, Gustavo Cortés, to participate in the 147th meeting of the Interparliamentary Union (UIP) and related meetings to be held in Luanda, from 23 to 27 October.

The invitation was delivered in Managua, Nicaragua, by the Angolan ambassador to Cuba and non-resident of Nicaragua, Cândida Teixeira, during an audience granted to her by the deputy minister of Foreign Affairs of that country, Arlete Marenco

.

On the occasion, the two entities analyzed issues on strengthening bilateral cooperation in various areas, with a focus on making it more dynamic, according to a note from the Angolan Embassy in Cuba, released this Tuesday.

The document adds that the Angolan diplomat also held a meeting with the Minister of Industry and Trade, Jesus Bermúdez, with whom she discussed the importance of a broader cooperation.

As for the Interparliamentary Union, it is an international organization of the parliaments of sovereign states, whose objective is to mediate the multilateral contacts of parliamentarians.

The Republic of Angola has been part of the UIP since 1986.
