Africa-Press – Angola. The promotion and protection of the family, children, women, youth, the elderly and people with disabilities is another priority for any CASA-CE Government.

According to the electoral manifesto, this set of priorities also includes minority and vulnerable groups.

Ethics, honesty, transparency, professionalism and patriotism will be the structuring pillars of CASA-CE’s governmental action, in the event of victory in the elections on August 24th. Democracy, promotion and protection of fundamental freedoms and human rights will be “interdependent and unavoidable vectors in any exercise of governance”.

With a view to strengthening democracy and citizenship, the coalition promises to guarantee constitutional freedoms as fundamental factors in the democratic game and guarantee the regularity of electoral processes, which must be “free, fair, transparent and credible”.

It intends to guarantee a new process of profound Constitutional Reform that enshrines the return to the direct election of the President of the Republic in universal and direct suffrage, separate from the legislative elections, as well as institutionalizing a bicameral representative system of the National Assembly.

CASA-CE also wants to reformulate the Legislative Package for Social Communication, with the purpose of creating another environment for the media, promoting the sovereignty of public opinion and converting the Ministry of Social Communication into an Independent Regulatory Body of the Government. , called the High Authority for Social Communication, with members elected by their peers.

Institutionalize the culture of holding national referendums, as a method of consulting citizens and making decisions on sensitive matters of national interest; as well as the accountability of the State for the action or omission of its bodies (Legislative, Executive and Judicial), especially in intentional acts against citizens and socio-economic organizations, are other bets of a possible government of CASA-CE.
