Africa-Press – Angola. The general director of the Catoca Mining Society, Benedito Paulo Manuel, highlighted on Wednesday (06), in Luanda, the company’s social responsibility initiatives during its 30 years of existence with focus on education.

Initiatives such as building schools, supporting teachers, and providing school meals for children were highlighted by the general director as some of the support the company provides to the community.

During his speech at the press conference for the launch of Expo Catoca 30 Years, he noted that the company plays a crucial role in the development of families, public infrastructure, and the training of Angolan professionals nationally and internationally.

He added that Catoca thus reaffirms its role as a strategic company for Angola, while also promoting responsible mining, education, innovation, and lasting social impact.

Among the prospects for the future, he highlighted the development of surrounding communities, job creation, training for young people and children, and the creation of dignified conditions for the elderly.

Benedito Manuel emphasized that the company’s trajectory also includes milestones in the global diamond market, in addition to locally developed technological innovations.

Regarding the diversification of the economy in the Lunda-Sul region and ensuring that Catoca is not the only source of mass employment, he noted that new projects are under development, highlighting business development in the agribusiness and forestry sectors, aiming to transform the province into a hub for timber processing.

He also highlighted the promotion of tourism as a new economic lever for the east of the country.

The Catoca Mining Society is the largest diamond mining company in Angola, responsible for the exploration of one of the country’s most important deposits.

In its 30 years of operation, it has established itself as a leader in training technical staff and promoting sustainable mining practices and positive social impact.
