Africa-Press – Angola. The National Football Team traveled sunday to Lisbon (Portugal), for a short training period with a view to participating in CHAN2023 in Algeria, which will take place from the 13th of this month to the 4th of February.

In Portuguese territory, the Angolan team, in addition to working on the physical and technical aspects, will also be able to play some control games with local teams, before heading to the Algerian city of Oran, headquarters of group D which also includes the teams from Mauritania and from Mali.

Last Friday (30th), the team received from the Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, the flag of the Republic, as well as moral encouragement for it to have a good performance in the African competition, in a ceremony held at the Sports Gallery, in Citadel Complex.

The head of delegation and vice-president of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), Paulo Neto, guaranteed the technical and logistical conditions for the training camp in Portugal, promising a good performance by the team in Algeria.

He informed that the delegation is made up of 52 people, including players, technical staff and managers, in groups divided into two. The director clarified that part of the technical team is already in Portugal, where the internship starts on Monday.

The captain of the national team, goalkeeper Neblu, was also convinced of a good performance, surpassing the previous edition, where Angola was in the quarterfinals.

“The group is difficult, but we want to do everything, to reach at least the final. For that, we have to go through Mali and Mauritania”, he stressed.

Angola is in group D, with the teams of Mali, with whom it will play on the 16th, and Mauritania, on the 20th.

This is the third participation of the National Team in the competition, reserved for players who play in the respective countries, after Sudan 2011, where it was in second place after losing in the final, by 3-0, against Tunisia.

In Morocco2018, Palancas Negras was eliminated in the quarterfinals, against Nigeria, by 2-1.

For CHAN2023 in Algeria, the players Neblu, Hugo Marques, Langanga (goalkeeper), Tó Carneiro, Danilson, Razão, Eddie Afonso, Kinito, Kibeixa and Paizo (Defenders) were called up.

It includes, Além, Higino, Keliano, Herenilson, Megue, Vitoriano (middle), Bito, Gilberto, Caneta, Jaredi, Julinho, Depú and Lepua (advanced).

Coach Pedro Gonçalves also announced seven players who will be registered as reserves, namely Migue (goalkeeper), Hossi, Lulas, Pedro Francisco (defenders), Benvindo Afonso (midfielder), Jeffer and Jó Paciência (forwards).
