Speaking at the ceremony of handing over the Flag of the Republic to the National Athletics Team, which will participate in the World Championships in Paris (France) from the 7th to the 18th of this month, he said that the commitment to quality opens up good prospects for better results.

For her, the CPA’s idea of ​​calling a selection with only three athletes increases even more the responsibility of those selected, who must equip themselves with the spirit of discipline, patriotism and “fair-play”.

The president of the Angolan Paralympic Committee, Leonel da Rocha Pinto, said that the members of the national team are on a list of athletes preparing to compete on the podium at the Paralympic Games in Los Angeles (USA), in 2028.

He said that now, in France, there will be only three athletes because the CPA’s priority is quality and not quantity, at a time when the objective of the event is to obtain a classification that dignifies the State’s investments in adapted sport.

He referred that the body he leads chooses to compete with athletes with the minimum required by the International Paralympic Committee, aiming for good classifications, if not the podium.

The national team goes on Tuesday night to the stage of the event, qualifying for the 2024 Paralympic Games, also to be held in France.

In an interview, the athlete explained that so far the games are difficult, given the competitive level of the athletes he has already faced, but he aims to revalidate the trophy, which is why he has been working hard.

He stressed that being champion in title and the athlete with the highest Elo in the competition (2011), he will do everything to dignify that position, also because he knows his opponents, with whom he has already faced in several tournaments.
